I'm a simple homemaker and Mom of three teenagers. I am not a chef by profession, just someone who loves to cook and wants others to enjoy the joy of home cooking and baking like I do.
I learned how to cook from my Nanay and Lola whom we call Inang Regina. Inang used to be a kakanin maker during her day, and Nanay is a great cook. I used to go with Nanay to the market on weekends and though she never really taught me how to cook, I must have unconsciously learned by watching her.
It only dawned on me that i could cook well when my family lived in Singapore in 2002 to 2004. We used to invite our landlord and landlady in our house when paying the rent instead of depositing it in the bank because we wanted to have a close relationship with them. We always prepare Filipino food for them whenever they come byand they loved everything we served them and Auntie Amie always tells the kids how lucky they are that their Mom can cook well.
Pinay Cooking Lessons started when I posted pictures of the cupcakes I baked for our daughter Kaye's birthday, our friends started asking how I made and decorated them and it's hard to explain the decorating part through words, so I decided to made a video and posted it on my personal page, our friends loved it and told me to make more videos, so I did, and the rest is history.
